Reality is often difficult to understand. It folds, bends, warps, buckles contorts. An attempt to understand it however, is a step towards embracing the unknown.
Visual communication is no longer restricted to 2D mediums, For graphic designers today, it is crucial to extend its boundaries to the third dimension by developing sensitivity towards spaces, structures, light and textures.
WARPED is a video-installation designed and exhibited to experience this parallel state of being. It promises an experience of life after death where it is absurd, surreal, and unfamiliar. To explore the possibilities of crafting narratives in space, we designed and built a parabolicsurface which would be the base for our projection experiments.
Created using over 600 hand-made prisms cut across a parametric curve, the parabolic surface was conceptualized to evoke a sensation of rhythm. It was inspired by the work of Matt Shlian's. The surface developed served as a canvas for our projection experiments as it interacts differently with the light when viewed at different angles.

Over the span of three days, we set out to create the installation. We worked together in the areas of 3D modelling, laser-cutting, sound design, creating motion graphics for projection mapping, branding, and setting up the installation.
